RMHC has been McDonald’s charity of choice for more than 35 years
McDonald’s is our largest corporate donor. The partnership between McDonald’s Corporation, its owner/operators and Ronald McDonald House Charities dates back to the inception of the charitable organization. It started with an unlikely partnership between an NFL team, a children’s hospital and McDonald’s, who wanted to create a home away from home for families with seriously ill children.
For more than 35 years, McDonald’s support of the nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization has allowed RMHC to grow to provide stability and resources families in 52 countries and regions.
McDonald’s support of RMHC takes on many forms. Portions of the annual operating costs for Ronald McDonald Houses are graciously funded by McDonald's and owner/operators of local McDonald's restaurants. The remainder of our annual operating income comes from the generosity of individual and corporate donors. Collectively McDonald’s utilizes its restaurants, advertising dollars, packaging and crew to create customer awareness and support for the charity. Crew members and owner/operators participate in local and global boards and volunteer their time. In-restaurant fundraisers are held throughout the year. RMHC Donation Boxes placed on the counters and in the drive-thrus are the largest source of ongoing fundraising, and are used to make grants to organizations that help children in the local community.
Here in Rochester, members of the McDonald’s family volunteer as Board and committee members, and assist with our many special events. Together they have helped RMHC tackle the many challenges of operating, including recruiting volunteers, securing in-kind gifts, raising necessary funds and delivering program services.
