House at Westmoreland


How many people can stay in a room?

Our rooms have various bedding arrangements, and can hold three to six people comfortably.

Can a family occupy more than one room at either the Westmoreland House or House Within The Hospital?

Only one room per family is allowed at either House.

Is smoking permitted?

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property.

Can I have a TV in my room?

In order to provide a quiet and restful environment, TVs and portable DVD players are not permitted in the bedrooms.

What should I bring with me?

Clothing and personal care items, and if you have special dietary needs you should plan accordingly. A stocked pantry is available for guests, as well as toiletry items you may have forgotten.

Is there Internet access available?

We have two computers for guest use, as well as secure Wi-Fi if you bring your own laptop.

How long can I stay?

You are eligible to stay for as long as your child is receiving medical treatment in the Rochester area.

What if my family can’t afford to pay $10 per night?

Eligibility is not based on ability to pay; no eligible family is ever turned away.

House Within The Hospital

Why can’t patients and children stay at the House Within The Hospital?

The House Within The Hospital is a quiet respite for the adult caregivers of very critically ill or injured children.  The Ronald McDonald House Charities Lounge, located on the 4th floor, is available for families, patients and siblings to spend time together.

How long can we stay at the House Within The Hospital?

Overnight stays are typically 1-5 days, and are determined by the patient’s medical acuity in comparison with other patients in the Intensive Care Units.

What do I need to bring with me?

Will I have to share a bathroom?

The bedrooms at the House Within The Hospital all have private bathrooms.

How much will it cost?

While there is no cost to say at the House Within The Hospital, a $10 per night donation is appreciated.
