House at Westmoreland

Who can stay?

Any family member or support person of a pediatric patient who travels to Rochester for health care.

How can I make arrangements?

Your referral must come through someone connected with the admitting facility (i.e., social worker, nurse, doctor or doctor’s office personnel, etc.)  during Ronald McDonald House office hours, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.  Referrals and admissions are not taken outside office hours.  Check-in no later than 7 p.m.  Referrals should be made as early in the day as possible to assure availability.  One room per patient family with an average capacity of four family members. Some rooms can accommodate our maximum capacity of six.


$10 a night per family. We accept cash, credit and debit cards, or personal checks. Concerns about payments may be addressed with referring personnel and the House Manager.

House Within The Hospital

Located inside Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong, the Ronald McDonald House Within The Hospital provides accommodations for parents and adult caregivers of patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care units.


Seven bedrooms with private bath and shower. 
In-room phones with direct access to child’s unit.
Kitchen stocked with snacks and beverages.
Lounge area with reading material and a television.
Laundry facilities.

Who can stay?

Two parents or adult caregivers of a critically ill or injured pediatric patient when the child's medical acuity warrants their immediate access to the child.


The House Within The Hospital serves families of the most critically ill or injured pediatric patients.
Eligibility is determined with social workers and the medical staff of Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.
Local and out-of-town parents and caregivers of acutely ill pediatric patients are eligible for accommodations at the House Within The Hospital.

Office Hours

The House Within The Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Check-ins occur throughout the day. Room assignments are based on medical acuity. 


No payment is required. A $10 donation per night is appreciated.
